The Department of Tourism Management welcomes enquiries from people interested in full and part time qualifications in Tourism and Hospitality Management.

Bachelor of Tourism (BTour)

The BTour is a three-year degree with a choice of four specified programmes combining resources from a range of teaching and research areas within the Waikato Management School, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and the School of Education. The specified programmes of study are:

  • Business of Tourism
  • Hospitality Management
  • Tourism, Resources, Impacts and Planning

Bachelor of Tourism (Honours) B.Tour (Hon)

This degree is of four years duration with majors in tourism and hospitality management. It is a requirement of the degree that a paper in tourism research methods is completed to enable students to progress to research.

Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS)

The BMS is a four-year broad based degree with the opportunity to specialise with a Tourism Management major, which encompasses the study of tourism and hospitality management. You also have the opportunity to study tourism management with another major within the BMS, such as Marketing, Finance or Accounting ?giving you a wider range of career opportunities.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

The doctoral programme offered by the Department may require applicants to first complete a paper in research methods. The department is able to offer a supervision across a range of subjects by supervisors with international reputation in the specific subjects.
