Keynote Speaker

Dr Tom Baum

Professor Baum is the Head of the Hospitality and Tourism Department within the school of Business at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland and was professor of the International Hotel and Tourism Management at the University of Buckingham for 6 years.

Tom is a member of the International Academy for the study of Tourism, he has served as president of the European Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education and as a board member of the International Euro CHRIE. He was the 2001 recipient of the John Wiley and Sons Lifetime Research Achievement Award and has authored and edited six books in tourism as well as a large number of scientific publications.

Tom is a member of the International Academy for the study of tourism and has done teaching and consulting in a number of countries around the world.

He is actively involved in a number of collaborative research networks particularly in the areas of migrant labour and volunteer work in the events sector.
