All of Waikato’s programmes are designed around the School’s key strategic themes of Excellence, Distinction, Experience and International Connectedness.

Excellence
Our Executive programmes have been running for over a decade and are internationally accredited to EQUIS (The European Quality Improvement System), AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, USA) and to AMBA (The Association of MBAs) as well as being well-recognised internationally.

In order to achieve such status, every aspect of the programmes were studied rigorously – the quality of our facilitators and teaching staff, assessment, auditing processes, academic leadership, curriculum design, character, content and integration, and the competencies and the skills of participants.

In addition to these international accreditations Waikato is New Zealand’s Number 1 business and management school*.

In line with our international reputation and rankings we are very selective about the presenters and facilitators that we employ on our programmes. Only facilitators that possess a balance between practical or consultancy expertise, distinguished scholarship, and are highly regarded facilitators skills are invited to teach on our programmes. Waikato has some of Australasia’s best presenters facilitating papers, modules, short courses, and corporate programmes.

The result is programmes with strong relevant practical outcomes underpinned by a robust theoretical base.

Distinction
Our focus on distinction include three major themes. One, it incorporates a commitment to sustainable business and success over the long term. Our programmes provide participants with models and tools to develop and shape successful organisations into the future.

Two, the programmes are designed to meet the needs of those both in small and large business. In line with current market conditions, the growing importance of small and medium sized enterprises, and the need for large organisations to transform themselves, our programmes have a strong entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship focus.

Three, our programmes give a greater general emphasis on soft skills and leadership. We have solid courses and programmes that cover a broad range of quantitative skills such as accounting, finance, and economics but a large part of our programmes are focused on leading people in organisations.

Experience
Most Waikato programmes are based on a blended learning experience. We focus on the classroom experience with leading presenters and top quality participants supported by relevant practical materials and any required electronic resources.

As an executive learner we recognise that you’re busy and therefore we provide you with all the required material as part of the programme fee including copies of the required texts and printed course readings.

We also provide most participants (excludes short courses) with access to our international award winning online portal MyWeb. This portal allows you access to the course materials online along with access to full text electronic journals and the library databases.

In addition each programme has a dedicated programme coordinator to assist the participants with any administrative requirements throughout the course of the programme.

This experience continues after the programme has finished with regular Alumni activities and executive update seminars.

International Connectedness
Many of our programmes are designed to connect participants with the global environment as International business is a core component of what we do.

We have run programmes on doing business in China, Chile and other parts of the world. In some programmes participants are exposed to a number of overseas professionals contracted especially to present on the programmes.

Finally as part of the Waikato MBA programme participants experience an expenses paid 8-10 day international study tour to emerging markets. While in these markets they participate in seminars, business tours and meetings with business leaders.
