The Department of Accounting
Accounting is often called the language of business. It underpins almost all business and organisational activities. An understanding of the role of accounting in organisations is important for all managers regardless of their area of specialisation.
The Department of Accounting offers papers at all undergraduate levels through to postgraduate and doctoral studies for those wishing to become professional accountants, and for non-accountants who need to understand and use accounting information in their managerial activities.
The CA academic requirements of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA) can be satisfied with an appropriate selection of papers which can normally be completed within the BMS; the BBA(Fin) with the Graduate Diploma; or the BBA(Hons)(Fin). In addition, the academic requirements of NZICA (ACA), CPA Australia or ACCA accountancy professional institutions may also be satisfied through the BBA(Fin) degree.
