Asia Pacific Academy of Business in Society Annual Conference

Sustainable Futures for Business and Society

INSEAD, Singapore, 16-18 October 2008

What is at stake as we try to build sustainable futures for business and society? How can we manage the tensions among business, social and environmental needs? How do we address and respond to global issues, such as the depletion of natural resources, the impacts of urbanization and increasing mobility on energy usage; and equitable distribution of wealth and opportunity, especially in relation to international trade and trade negotiations? How can we prevent the catastrophic social and economic effects of climate change?

These questions are globally significant, and they are especially pressing in the Asia-Pacific region, which is particularly at risk from all of these issues but also has the potential to shape its own development towards sustainability. At the 2008 annual conference of APABIS, we invite businesses, academia, governments, NGOs and other organisational networks to address these questions and to discuss possibilities for creating our shared future.
