Wealth Creation for New Zealand

Wealth creation for New Zealand is of major interest to leaders in business, industry organisations, local and national government, as well as to the wider community and society. The ability to create wealth and to manage growth are vital for the future development and prosperity of local, regional and national economies.

Waikato Management School staff are involved in a wide range of applied research focusing on the drivers and impacts of wealth creation. Current research programmes includes sectoral productivity and efficiency studies, reporting policy and performance measurement in health services; economic, marketing and tourism impact assessment and forecasting work with a regional focus; micro business start-up performance, clusters and networks. Supply chain management research is also carried out with applications in Transportation and the Dairy Industry.

    Including economic impacts of tourism within regions, cultural policy, heritage policy and the arts; hospitality - facilities and operations management.

    Including reporting policy and performance measurement; case studies.
  • Creative Industries
    Including case studies of innovative companies in the creative industries: film, fashion and media industries. 
  • Economic Policy in NZ
    Including impact of ICT on labour markets; determinants of household wealth, savings & retirement, monetary policy rules, productivity & efficiency measurement. 
  • Regional & Business Economics
    Including economic impact assessments, modelling regions and forecasting, incentives for marketing & procurement agents. 
  • Supply Chain Management
    Including movement of physical goods, practices and firm performance, NZ/International comparisons, value added, current issues in SCM, productivity improvements 
  • SMEs
    Including marketing factors impacting performance, micro business, start-ups, performance, clusters and networks, defining scale, performance measures, profiling high performing companies, business capabilities, ICT adoption and impacts.
