Communication on the edge: Shifting boundaries and identities
Australian and New Zealand Communication Association (ANZCA) 2011 Conference
The University of Waikato, Hamilton, 6-8 July 2011
The Australian and New Zealand Communication Association (ANZCA) conference will be hosted by the Department of Management Communication and the Screen and Media Studies Programme at The University of Waikato.
The conference aims to create opportunities for wide-ranging discussion of communication research, teaching, and practice, including, but not restricted to:
- Theoretical development with an innovative 'edge'
- Empirical research from diverse perspectives
- Creative practice
ANZCA is a professional association for researchers, teachers, and practitioners in the diverse disciplines of communication in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The annual conference is the major event in the ANZCA calendar, and attracts local and international delegates.
The conference provides members with valuable professional development opportunities, including scholarly publication, networking and presentation, and learning about the latest national and international trends in media and communications research, teaching and learning. Research students are encouraged and supported to take advantage of formal and informal mentoring opportunities afforded by participation in the conference and other activities of the association.
In 2011, the location of the ANZCA conference provides a unique springboard for both scholarly and recreational opportunities.
Situated in the heart of the North Island of New Zealand, the University of Waikato is set in 68 hectares of beautifully landscaped grounds. The University provides world-class, research-driven teaching, in a dynamic learning environment with excellent facilities. Waikato Management School was rated New Zealand's number 1 research-led Business School in the tertiary rankings of the 2006 Performance-Based Research Fund (PBRF), published by the Tertiary Education Commission, and the University of Waikato is the only university in the southern hemisphere certified by PRSA, the Public Relations Society of America.
The location of the university enables easy access to major tourist attractions in nearby Rotorua and Waitomo, to central North Island ski fields, and to the Hobbiton village.
